Welcome to the Journey
Exploring spirituality, learning, and transformation in everyday life.
Welcome
Welcome, and thank you for being here.
This space is a crossroads where spirituality, learning, and transformation meet.
For much of my career, I have helped organizations design learning experiences that develop leaders, build communities, and create lasting change. Alongside that work, my own journey has led me into spiritual direction, contemplative practice, ordained ministry, and the study of Christian formation.
Over time, I’ve come to believe that the deepest learning isn’t simply about gaining information—it’s about being formed.
Whether you’re an individual seeking greater clarity and discernment or a leader exploring how to cultivate growth within your organization, you’re welcome here.
If there is a single thread running through everything I write and everything I do, it is this:
Transformation begins with attention to God’s presence in the ordinary.
Much of the spiritual life unfolds not in extraordinary moments but in everyday ones—in meetings and conversations, in prayer and silence, in work and relationships, in moments of uncertainty and hope. Formation happens as we learn to notice, reflect, and respond with intention.
Here you’ll find reflections drawn from my work as a spiritual director, vocational deacon, learning consultant, and doctoral student, along with insights shaped by years of designing learning experiences for organizations around the world.
You’ll also discover resources and conversations around:
Christian spirituality and contemplative practice
Spiritual direction and vocational discernment
Leadership, learning, and organizational formation
Theology, ministry, and the life of the Church
Meditation, yoga, and practices that cultivate attentive living
Designing learning experiences that move people from information to transformation
This publication is more than a collection of essays. It is an invitation to slow down, ask meaningful questions, and explore how we are being formed—personally, professionally, and spiritually.
If our paths cross in a way that serves you more directly, I also offer spiritual direction for individuals and consulting for churches, nonprofits, and organizations seeking to create transformational learning and formation experiences.
Whether you come here to read, reflect, seek guidance, or imagine new possibilities for your community, I’m grateful you’re here.
Thank you for walking this journey with me.
Grace and peace,
Michael Finney
